The aim of the program is to assess the clinical and economic use of a prototype of a new device for scanning, telemedicine support and archiving of cytological samples in screening for cervical cancer. The high incidence and mortality of cervical cancer has been an unresolved epidemiological problem in Poland for years. The project aims to modify the current model of screening for cervical cancer by using a prototype of a new device for scanning, telemedicine support and archiving of cytological samples. The purpose of the new device is to convert currently used optical microscopes to fully independent cytological sample scanning systems by adding a functional attachment to ensure precise control of the position of the samples during scanning. The samples may come from classical cytological studies as well as from cytology in the liquid phase. In addition, software will be developed to support remote sample analysis by a pathomorfologist (whose effectiveness and cost-effectiveness will be tested in the planned clinical trial) and a central database archiving scanned samples in digital form increasing the safety of information storage, which can also be used in the training of physicians in a very important way. Currently, there is no system on the Polish and European market supporting archiving and providing results in “wholesale” quantities. (English) | |||||||||||||||

Celem programu jest ocena kliniczna i ekonomiczna zastosowania prototypu nowego urządzenia do skanowania, obsługi telemedycznej i archiwizowania próbek cytologicznych w badaniach przesiewowych w kierunku raka szyjki macicy. (Polish)
