S2IIG_INTEGRATED SATELLITE SYSTEM FOREST MANAGEMENT. THE Ê PROJECT AIMS TO CONTRIBUTE TO REDUCING THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY FOREST FIRES IN THE FIELDS OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES BY DEVELOPING A USEFUL SOFTWARE SYSTEM TO PLAN INTERVENTIONS FOR BOTH PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF FIRES AND POST-FIRE RECOVERY. THE INTEGRATION OF INNOVATIVE DATA PROCESSING TECHNIQUES WITH HIGH SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL RESOLUTION DATA PROVIDED BY NEW SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES, METEOROLOGICAL MODELLING AND SIMULATION OF FOREST FIRE SPREAD. A NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO THE SOFTWARE SYSTEM AND THEIR INPUT-OUTPUT PROCEDURES WILL BE RUN BY MEANS OF A WEB INTERFACE THAT CAN PRODUCE AND VISUALISE SEVERAL LAYERS OF INFORMATION.
