The BioNorth project will create new ways of using biopolymers and thus support the utilisation of some bio-based industrial by-products which are considered partly waste materials at the moment. Therefore project can open new possibilities for commercial capitalisation of biopolymers and their raw materials in NPA area. In addition, the approach results in a new, simple and cost-effective method for purification of run-off waters from non-point and some point sources. Therefore, our approach would support the securing of the good ecological status and recreational and commercial usability of northern waters. The main beneficiaries of the project are the producers of biopolymers and their raw materials and primary and industrial production causing water pollution and moreover, all human activities benefitting from good status of waters.
