The project aims to improve the health services offered to the population of Ivano-Frankivsk and Sighetu-Marmatiei and their surroundings, a total of approximately 396480 people. In the context of aging populations, as well as of an unhealthy lifestyle, the need for medical services has risen urgently. Moreover, the constant under-financing of the two hospitals in recent years has led to a decrease in their capacity for diagnosis and treatment. The current technological development also makes some of the equipment in the two hospitals to be overcome and to force patients to move to other hospitals. Of course, this leads to higher costs for patients and their families and, in some cases, people even quit trying to treat themselves. This project will be implemented in the two hospitals for a period of 12 months. The main actions aims at: 1) Increasing the number of medical equipment for diagnosis, surgery, anesthesia and intensive care, rapid diagnosis and life maintenance in emergency situations, treatment of chronic diseases and geriatrics; 2) Creating a mechanism for cooperation between the two hospital units for knowledge exchange, joint training programs, joint support services in the field of preventive medicine, the diagnosis of chronic diseases and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The two partners will benefit from improved medical equipment, which will increase the quality of health services. Sharing common knowledge and seminars will improve the professional level of the medical staff, as well as the conditions of the activity through the use of higher diagnostic equipment. All these achievements will be put to the service of the populations served by SMMH and IFCCCH, and this partnership can serve as a model for other hospital units in the two neighbouring countries, especially as the casuistic is similar, but often different therapies are used.
