This project aims to bring politics closer to the citizen but also to better inform the citizen about the value of democracy. To this end, pilot projects of citizens' initiatives are being launched in the three regions (France-Wallonia-Flanders). Participants from different regions visit and learn from the projects, by exploring commonalities, for example, and interacting with people from other regions. The objective is that the pilot projects and the resulting discussions will generate ideas for the necessary training courses organised later in the project. All projects are evaluated and their social impact measured. The initiatives are compiled in a guide to good practice, which is widely distributed so that citizens' initiatives can also be organised in other municipalities or regions. In addition to the projects, training is also planned for a rather vulnerable target group, which generally has difficulty accessing traditional training or information sessions on Europe and the meaning of active citizenship in Europe. The training sessions are very interactive and designed on a co-creation basis. The sessions focus on democratic values and the pilot projects are used in this context as a tool to materialise certain aspects. Finally, a “train the trainer” course is organised for external organisations. The objective is that, after the project, participants from the region can be invited to become an “active citizen” in Europe thanks to the tools obtained. (English)
