A projekt szükségességének alátámasztása, előzmények: Mezőtúr városa 1378-ban kapta városi címét. A mezővárosi címet Nagy Lajos királyunk adományozta. Az eltelt 641 év alatt településünk életében kiemelt szerepet kapott a hagyományok, tradíciók ápolása. Az évszázadok alatt fennmaradt tradíciók, hagyományok: a protestantizmus, a fazekasság és a gasztronómiai kultúra. Kiemelt szerepet tölt be ezen és ehhez kapcsolódó értékek ápolása. A helyi közösségünk életére, annak formálására hatással van ezen értékek ápolása, gondozása. A XIX. századtól kezdődően az iskolai oktatás tananyagában megjelenik a testnevelés oktatása. Meghonosodik a „Mens sana, in corpore sano” azaz „Ép testben, ép lélek” szemléletmód, amelynek következményeképpen a mindennapos mozgás korosztálytól függetlenül jelen van városunkban is. Az alap és középfokú, sőt később felsőfokú nevelési-oktatási intézményeken túl egyesületi, szervezett keretek között is megjelenik a sport településünkön. 1923-ban megalakul a Mezőtúri AFC Spartacus Sport Egyesület, amely a városi sportélet egyik fő szervezőjévé válik a XX. szádban. Az általa szervezett szakosztályok évről-évre bővülő formában segítik városunk sportolási tevékenységét. Bízunk abban, hogy a megújuló gördeszkapálya ezt a folyamatot tovább tudja erősíteni, újabb társadalmi csoportokat megszólítva az egészséges életmód számára. Bízunk abban, hogy eddig is nagy népszerűségnek örvendő gördeszkapálya kihasználtsága növekedni fog. A projekt előkészítettsége: A Mezőtúri AFC Spartacus Sport Egyesület évről-évre bővülő formában szervezi-gondozza településünk egészségmegőrzéssel, versenyeztetéssel szorosan összekapcsolódó sportrendezvényeit. A rendezvények, a szakosztályok működésének zökkenőmentes biztosításához, sportrendezvények megszervezéséhez, a szabadidő kötetlen eltöltéhez igyekszik az egyesület egyre méltóbb, korszerű körülményeket biztosítani. A kialakításra, felújításra váró Rákóczi úti rendezvényterem segít abban, hogy egy XXI. századi körülmény jöhetnének létre a közösségek szabadidős, sport és más közösségi tevékenységbe történő bekapcsolásához. Reméljük, hogy a pályázat adta lehetőség segítséget nyújt célunk eléréséhez. A megújuló Rákóczi úti rendezvényterem korosztályoktól függetlenül, -fiataltól - idősebbig-, segítheti a szabadidő hasznos eltöltését. A megújulásra váró rendezvényterem költéségeivel kapcsolatosan tervezői árajánlat került beszerzésre, amely tartalmazza a közösségi tér felújítását, szociális blokkok, öltöző helyiségek kialakítását. A projekt által érintett célcsoport(ok): A gördeszkapálya megújításának a célja, hogy a társadalom legszélesebb körének, a legfiatalabbtól a legidősebbig a bevonása. Az idősebbeknek lehetőség nyílik a bemutatók megtekintésére. A megújításra kerülő ingatlan az ún. „Kresz-park”, a gördeszkapálya az egészségmegőrzés, a sport egy kiváló lehetőség arra, hogy a legfiatalabbak számára a legidősebbek átadják a tapasztalataikat ezen a területeken. Természetesen a tapasztalatok, a hagyományok átadására kiválóan alkalmas a sport. A későbbiekben tájékoztató programokkal kívánjuk segíteni, népszerűsíteni a megújuló gördeszkapálya kihasználtságát. Reméljük a társadalom hátrányosabb rétegei is jelen lesznek minél szélesebb körben nemcsak a tájékoztató, nyitó rendezvény alkalmával. Megvalósítandó tevékenységek: A XIX. század folyamán az alap és középfokú, sőt később felsőfokú nevelési-oktatási intézményeken túl egyesületi, szervezett keretek között is megjelenik a sport településünkön. 1923-ban megalakuló a Mezőtúri AFC Spartacus Sport Egyesület, amely a városi sportélet egyik fő szervezőjévé vált a XX. szádban. Az általa szervezett szakosztályok évről-évre bővülő formában segítik városunk sportolási tevékenységét. A helyszín 5400 Mezőtúr, I. utca 29. kiválasztása a fejlesztés megvalósítása szempontjából ideális, hiszen lehetőséget teremt a rendezvényekben résztvevők számára az egészséges, környezettudatos sportbarát szemléletmód kialakítására. A mindennapi tanulás, munkát követően, azon túl, délutánonként és hétvégenként nőhet a park kihasználtsága. A helyszín kiválóan alkalmas arra, hogy kortól függetlenül ügyességi, akrobatikus rendezvények lebonyolítására kerüljön sor, az extrém sportágak kedvelői számára. A helyszín kiváló lehetőséget ad továbbá a különböző korosztályok fiatalabbakat és idősebbeket egy csoportba hozni, szervezni. Ez különösen fontos azért, mert az idősebb korosztályok alkalmasak arra, hogy a sportban megtalálható hagyományokat, a kulturális értékeket át tudják adni az arra nyitott, érdeklődő fiatalság számára. A helyszín továbbá kiváló lehetőséget teremt a társadalmilag hátrányosabb helyzetben lévő csoportok, fiatalok bekapcsolására.
