Property / summary

The city of Šalčininkai does not have a local public transport system, thus increasing the use of private cars, while increasing the negative environmental impact. Insufficiently developed pedestrian and cycling infrastructure is the cause of communication problems. Installing a pedestrian and cycling trail is the right way to solve problems in the urban transport system. The newly built pedestrian and bicycle path will be connected to the trails in Šalčininkai (connecting the central part of the city to Vilniaus str.). The trail will be designed for safe, comfortable and fast access to residential homes, urban recreational areas, public institutions, business facilities. The total length of the pedestrian and cycling path will be about 0.498 km, 2.5 m wide. After the implementation of the project, convenient traffic conditions will be created for the residents of Šalčininkai by bicycle and walking. The Pedestrian and Cycling Pathway design guidelines R PDTP 12 will be followed when constructing the pedestrian and cycling path. (English)

(Lithuanian)
