FUNCTIONAL MRI IN EXPERIMENTAL NEUROSCIENCE (FUNMEN)
Property / summary

THE PROJECT FOCUSES ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF FUNCTIONAL MRI TECHNIQUES FOR EXPERIMENTAL NEUROSCIENCES. THE FUNCTIONAL MECHANISMS THAT ALLOW THE NERVOUS SYSTEM TO CONTROL THE FUNCTIONS OF THE ORGANISM AND THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE INDIVIDUAL ARE NOT FULLY CLARIFIED TO DATE AND THEIR UNDERSTANDING REPRESENTS ONE OF THE GREATEST CHALLENGES IN THE FIELD OF NEUROSCIENCE. IN FACT, THE WORLD’S LEADING RESEARCH AGENCIES HAVE LAUNCHED LARGE-SCALE PROGRAMS TO UNDERSTAND THE FUNCTIONAL MECHANISMS OF THE BRAIN AND DEVELOP NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO ENABLE THIS STUDY. THE APPLICATION OF THESE NEW KNOWLEDGE IN HUMAN DIAGNOSIS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL AND PSYCHIATRIC DISEASES WITH IMPORTANT REPERCUSSIONS ON OUR NATIONAL HEALTH SYSTEM. THE MAIN CHALLENGE IS TO IDENTIFY ALTERATIONS IN FUNCTIONAL CIRCUITS IN ANIMAL MODELS OF PSYCHIATRIC, NEURODEGENERATIVE AND NEURODEVELOPMENT DISEASES, DURING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PATHOLOGY AND FOLLOWING (English)

IL PROGETTO VERTE SULLO SVILUPPO E APPLICAZIONE DI TECNICHE MRI FUNZIONALI PER LE NEUROSCIENZE SPERIMENTALI. I MECCANISMI FUNZIONALI CHE CONSENTONO AL SISTEMA NERVOSO DI CONTROLLARE LE FUNZIONI DELL'ORGANISMO ED IL COMPORTAMENTO DELL'INDIVIDUO SONO AD OGGI NON COMPLETAMENTE CHIARITI E LA LORO COMPRENSIONE RAPPRESENTA UNA DELLE MAGGIORI SFIDE NEL CAMPO DELLE NEUROSCIENZE. INFATTI LE MAGGIORI AGENZIE DI RICERCA MONDIALI HANNO LANCIATO PROGRAMMI DI LARGA SCALA PER COMPRENDERE I MECCANISMI FUNZIONALI DEL CERVELLO E SVILUPPARE NUOVE TECNOLOGIE CHE CONSENTANO TALE STUDIO. L'APPLICAZIONE DI QUESTE NUOVE CONOSCENZE NELLA DIAGNOSI SULL'UOMO PUò CONTRIBUIRE ALLA PREVENZIONE E CURA DELLE MALATTIE NEUROLOGICHE E PSICHIATRICHE CON IMPORTANTI RICADUTE SUL NOSTRO SISTEMA SANITARIO NAZIONALE. LA SFIDA PRINCIPALE Ê DI IDENTIFICARE ALTERAZIONI IN CIRCUITI FUNZIONALI IN MODELLI ANIMALI DI MALATTIE PSICHIATRICHE, NEURODEGENERATIVE E DEL NEUROSVILUPPO, DURANTE LO SVILUPPO DELLA PATOLOGIA E A SEGUITO DI I (Italian)

EL PROYECTO SE CENTRA EN EL DESARROLLO Y APLICACIÓN DE TÉCNICAS FUNCIONALES DE RESONANCIA MAGNÉTICA PARA NEUROCIENCIAS EXPERIMENTALES. LOS MECANISMOS FUNCIONALES QUE PERMITEN AL SISTEMA NERVIOSO CONTROLAR LAS FUNCIONES DEL ORGANISMO Y EL COMPORTAMIENTO DEL INDIVIDUO NO ESTÁN COMPLETAMENTE ACLARADOS HASTA LA FECHA Y SU COMPRENSIÓN REPRESENTA UNO DE LOS MAYORES DESAFÍOS EN EL CAMPO DE LA NEUROCIENCIA. DE HECHO, LAS PRINCIPALES AGENCIAS DE INVESTIGACIÓN DEL MUNDO HAN PUESTO EN MARCHA PROGRAMAS A GRAN ESCALA PARA COMPRENDER LOS MECANISMOS FUNCIONALES DEL CEREBRO Y DESARROLLAR NUEVAS TECNOLOGÍAS QUE PERMITAN ESTE ESTUDIO. LA APLICACIÓN DE ESTOS NUEVOS CONOCIMIENTOS EN EL DIAGNÓSTICO HUMANO PUEDE CONTRIBUIR A LA PREVENCIÓN Y TRATAMIENTO DE ENFERMEDADES NEUROLÓGICAS Y PSIQUIÁTRICAS CON IMPORTANTES REPERCUSIONES EN NUESTRO SISTEMA NACIONAL DE SALUD. EL PRINCIPAL RETO ES IDENTIFICAR ALTERACIONES EN CIRCUITOS FUNCIONALES EN MODELOS ANIMALES DE ENFERMEDADES PSIQUIÁTRICAS, NEURODEGENERATIVAS Y NEURODESARROLLO, DURANTE EL DESARROLLO DE LA PATOLOGÍA Y SEGUIMIENTO (Spanish)
