Today there is a great need for internships. Employers mean that they nowadays receive more internship inquiries than ever and at the same time it is difficult to find employees who have the skills that the employers demand. The labor market is out of balance. This project is based on a study that the Regional Council of Uppsala did in spring 2015. The study shows a great need of coordination of the different internships in the county. During a Forum for Competence development it was concluded that there are too many different areas of contact regarding internships today, which leads to deteriorating conditions for the individuals who are applying for an internship. As a result of the issues raised during the Forum for Competence development the Regional Council in Uppsala County conducted a survey in May 2015 to find out what needs employers and applicants have, to be able to improve the situation. The survey showed that there are about 60 work places and more than 200 other participants who are in need of internships. Employers said they would like some sort of guide that clearly defines what each type of internship entails—what is expected from the employer as well as from the employee. They are also requesting better coordination of the internships, so that the employers themselves do not have to deal with the applications themselves. Individuals from Programområde 2 will participate in the project as part of the management group. The participation of these individuals will lead to a closer contact with the target group, and thus ensure that their perspectives are utilized in the mapping. The goal of the project is to identify the needs of employers and internship seekers, to find a way that makes the matching process more efficient, to make sure that employers' competence needs are satisfied to a greater extent and to put individuals who are far from the labor market to work quicker. The mapping will also include an analysis of how the county in the best way possible can create a tool for coordinating the internships. During the application phase, contact has been established with the Gothenburg Region and the Municipality of Sundsvall who currently use the web tool Praktikplatsen.se. This web tool will be further explored to see what possibilities there are for Uppsala to implement it, or a similar coordination tool. The health and social care sector in Uppsala County also has a well-functioning internship tool, KliPP, which also will be examined and analyzed in the survey to see what makes it so efficient. The main goal of the project is to create a sustainable model for internship coordination in Uppsala County. The model will be based on employers 'and individuals' needs. The survey should clearly have analyzed the situation in the region and all the necessary information should be used to create a tool that is ready to operate as soon as possible after the project is finished. The final survey should also have clarified the best way for giving men and women the same opportunities for internships in Uppsala. During the analysis phase, all the necessary preparations will be made for the project to be able to start immediately when the implementation phase begins. Among other things, contact will be established with relevant stakeholders. During the analysis phase the cooperating partners will have to evaluate their own network of contacts to facilitate the mapping in the implementation phase. During the implementation phase, there are three areas to be mapped. The survey will be conducted by 4 people who will work full time.1 project manager and 3 people with specific focus on one mapping area each. That means, 1 person who will be responsible for identifying what employers are asking to improve internship opportunities, one person who will be responsible for identifying the needs of the individuals in the target group, Programområde 2, and one person who will be responsible for mapping existing, well-functioning coordination tools that can be used to streamline and improve the matching process between the individual and the workplace. Besides the three field experts the project manager will also help analyzing the employers’ perspective since that area is very extensive. Another goal of the project is to investigate whether it is possible or not to develop a policy requiring employers to take on trainees from the target group, Programområde 2, as part of a CSR. An administrator / economist will also be hired, at 20%. To ensure that the project is permeated by a equality and functionality perspective, all project members will be offered a course on the horizontal perspectives. Uppsala already has a well-established equality policy in which the equality and functionality perspective is part of the municipality's everyday work. Methods and procedures will be used to ensure that the survey takes into account equal rights and ensures that there is no discrimination taking place at any part of the pro (Swedish)
