Complete upper secondary education GR ”FSGR” is a project which aims at motivating young people (15-24) to finish their education in upper secondary school, which in the long run means better opportunities for entering the labor market and reduces the risk of social exclusion. The project objective is to reduce the dropout rate at the schools participating in the project. The project runs for 36 months and starts 31/3 2017 and ends 30/3 2020. The need for action that results in increased competence of the school staff when it comes to counteract school dropout is high. Which is in line with needs and plans that are identified within GR, VGR as well as at an National level and EU level. These efforts need to have a clear perspective of the individual so that the activities planned within the project has a high degree of built-in flexibility and personalization. Meeting the participating students based on their individual needs and circumstances regarding to motivation, family background and on the basis of whether they are newcomers or have a disability are important elements to consider within the framework of the project. The project will contribute to this through the method where local schools formulate their project based on the individual needs of students. This means that students' specific needs and difficulties, including variations related to the function, language and other factors form the basis of the work efforts. The analysis of why the student is at risk of drop out is the key to a relevant and personalized effort. The project is conducted within three main areas: a) local sub-projects in high schools, B) meeting places where young people at risk of dropping out get an opportunity to meet with representatives from local businesses and work force, and C) a process map that highlights which actors are available to turn to when a school discovers that a student is at risk of dropping out. Local sub-projects will be conducted in a number of secondary schools in the Gothenburg region. Each sub-project will be based on local conditions and the needs of the school’s specific students at a risk. Based on that, each school develops a local project plan. Expert project and process management from GR assists in local work. Coordination with other projects and initiatives related to the issue are carried out continuously within GR. The result of the project will meet the challenges on individual, organizational and systematic level for young people (15-24) and in the long run facilitate the entering in the labour market and increase the possibilities for young people to participate and complete the upper secondary education.
