The Dutch plant raw material sector consists of more than 350 specialised breeding and propagating plants. Around 12,000 people work in this sector in the Netherlands and the 50 garden seed companies employ about 5,000 employees with a combined turnover of 1.5 billion euros. A working group on sustainable employability has identified issues of education and development, working conditions as well as motivation and involvement and has been implemented in a number of objectives. This has resulted in a policy plan that is currently the basis for this project. The aim of this project is to strengthen the recently completed policy plan, develop relevant interventions and run pilots with professionals in the garden seed business sector within a period of 18 months in order to keep them sustainable. This is achieved through a structured approach on three key themes, namely: (1) Training and development, (2) working conditions and (3) motivation and involvement. The approach includes a closer examination of the state of play on the three key themes, the development of an information and communication plan, the implementation of pilots, the conduct of information campaigns/career cafés and impact measurement through monitoring. The intended revenue from the project aims to structurally improve the sustainable employability of employees in the sector. Both content, process and marginal interventions are being developed and implemented that improve mobility as well as the career perspective of vulnerable employees (low-qualified and older). In addition to the responsibility of social partners and employers for good employership, information and awareness-raising campaigns focus mainly on good employeeship. This means that employees also have a responsibility for safe, healthy, motivated and productive work. (English)

(Dutch)
