Pieksämäen seudun älykkään liikkumisen investointihankkeen tavoitteena on parantaa aseman alueen toimintaympäristöä niin, että liikkuminen alueella on turvallista, sujuvaa ja esteetöntä, vähähiilisyyttä edistäen. Tavoitteeseen pääseminen edellyttää rakenteiden uudistamista ja peruskorjausta asematunnelin sekä lähialueiden osalta. Toimenpiteinä peruskorjataan Pieksämäen asematunneli ja rakennetaan esteettömät kulkuluiskat älykkäällä opastus ja varoitusjärjestelmällä varustettuna. Toimenpiteillä edistetään Etelä-Savon olosuhteisiin sopivaa kestävää ja älykästä liikkumista joukkoliikenteen, pyöräilyn ja kävelyn avulla. Asema-aukion joukkoliikennetilat, pysäköintipaikat, pyöräparkit ja sähköautojen latauspisteet rakennetaan nykyisiä tarpeita vastaaviksi ja helposti saavutettaviksi. Työn tuloksena alueesta muodostuu turvallinen, houkutteleva ja esteetön toimintaympäristö. Tämä lisää alueen ihmisvirtoja ja luo samalla toimintaedellytyksiä alueen elinkeinoelämälle. (Finnish)

The goal of the smart mobility investment project in the Pieksämäki region is to improve the operating environment of the station area so that mobility in the area is safe, smooth and accessible, promoting low carbon. In order to achieve this objective, structural reforms and renovations are required for the station tunnel and the surrounding areas. The measures will be to renovate the Pieksämäki station tunnel and to build unobstructed ramps with intelligent guidance and warning system. The measures promote sustainable and intelligent mobility suitable for the conditions of Etelä-Savo through public transport, cycling and walking. Public transport facilities, parking spaces, bike parks and charging points for electric cars will be built to meet current needs and easily accessible. As a result, the area will become a safe, attractive and accessible environment. This will increase the flow of people in the region and, at the same time, create the conditions for the region’s economic life. (English)
