The project promotes the industrial introduction of new forms of biomass energy recovery in Southern Savo. The project examines the most potential new forms of biomass processing for Etelä-Savo, which could be technically introduced in the province over the next three to five years and create the conditions for their commercial deployment. With the project, the preparation of the biocarbon pellet production and biologistics centre is taken forward to the point of creating a new company or a new business area for biocarbon pellet production and biologistics operations for an existing company. For other potential new forms of processing related to energy use of biomass, the objective is to develop a plan of action for further action. The project also aims to strengthen the network of businesses and operators that are developing around new energy recovery activities for biomass. The project will be implemented using international cooperation and networks on new forms of biomass processing (IEA Bioenergy and International Biomass torrefaction Council). The project contributes to strengthening South Savo’s profile as a specialist in forest energy and as a developer and deployer of new forms of biomass processing. (English) | |||||||||||||||

Hanke edistää biomassan uusien energiahyötykäyttöön liittyvien jalostusmuotojen teollista käyttöönottoa Etelä-Savossa. Hankkeessa tarkastellaan Etelä-Savon kannalta potentiaalisimpia biomassan uusia jalostusmuotoja, jotka voitaisiin teknistaloudellisesti ottaa käyttöön maakunnassa 3-5 lähivuoden aikana sekä luodaan edellytyksiä näiden kaupalliselle käyttöönotolle. Hankkeen avulla biohiilipellettituotannon ja biologistiikkakeskuksen valmistelua viedään eteenpäin niin pitkälle, että tavoitteena on saada syntymään biohiilipellettituotannosta ja biologistiikkatoiminnoista vastaava uusi yritys tai uusi liiketoiminta-alue jollekin olemassa olevalle yritykselle. Muiden potentiaalisten biomassan energiakäyttöön liittyvien uusien jalostusmuotojen osalta tavoitteena on laatia toimenpidesuunnitelma jatkotoimenpiteiksi. Hankkeen tavoitteena on myös vahvistaa uusien biomassan energiahyötykäyttöön liittyvien jalostustoimintojen ympärille kehittymässä olevaa yritys- ja toimijaverkostoa. Hankkeen toteutuksessa hyödynnetään biomassan uusiin jalostusmuotoihin liittyvää kansainvälistä yhteistyötä ja verkostoja (IEA Bioenergy ja International Biomass Torrefaction Council). Hanke vahvistaa osaltaan Etelä-Savon profiilia metsäenergian osaajana ja biomassan uusien jalostusmuotojen kehittäjänä ja käyttöönottajana. (Finnish)
