The main objective of the project is to prevent the experience of the lack of vision and participation of young mothers and their spouses at risk of social exclusion by supporting their inclusion and ability to act, in particular as a parent, and by strengthening their self-esteem, self-responsibility and empowerment, and educational pro-activeness. The project will reach young mothers and fathers/spouses in Pirkanmaa under the age of 20 and form a network of experts working with young parents at risk of exclusion. The project will develop new ways of empowering young parents through positive experiences and positive insights in the role of parenthood. Efforts are being made to strengthen the involvement of young parents in the services provided by society, particularly from the perspective of parenthood and the role of educator. The project will innovatively apply existing and proven methods and interventions and develop a new experiential 360VR video intervention based on virtual reality. The aim is to generate new insights and experiences in terms of capacity-building and self-responsibility through personalised interventions and positive experiences to strengthen inclusion. With the strengthening of their own capacity for action, young mothers and their spouses will have better opportunities to influence the acquisition of their own professional skills and employment, and the strengthening of their own role as educator will prevent the inheritation of overgeneration disadvantages to their own children. As a result, young mothers and their spouses at risk of exclusion have been reached. They have been informed that they are cared about, have the potential to become good parents and educators, and have a lot of opportunities in their lives and career choices. The self-esteem of young people in the target group has been strengthened, their ability to function improved and their requirement to act as a parent and educator has strengthened. As a result of the project, they have been supported in the educational and employment paths of their choice, as well as their involvement in children’s and families’ services. Actors working with young parents have had access to new solutions or added value to their existing services. Cooperation between early childhood education and care, secondary education and care with mental health and substance abuse providers and social care has increased through a network of experts. In the long term, it is possible to break the trend of exclusion and to prevent the inheritation of transgenerational disadvantages. Based on the information produced in the project, an operating model will be developed that can strengthen the empowerment and positive experiences of young parents in their own role as educator, and the networks have learned a working approach in line with the new approach. Awareness of the dangers of exclusion and of the risks of transmission of disadvantages from one generation to the next has increased and young parents have become easier to seek and receive help. Gender-relatedness is taken into account in the project’s activities. The project collects data disaggregated by gender diversity in order to identify different needs of the parent and educator role and to target measures accordingly. The project promotes social equality by guaranteeing better opportunities for meaningful work, education and employment for young people in disadvantaged labour market positions. The project respects the principles of sustainable development. The project is carried out by Tampere University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with public, private and organisational actors in the Pirkanmaa region. (English) | |||||||||||||||

Sukupuolisensitiivisyys huomioidaan hankkeen toiminnassa. (Finnish)
