The immigrant competence for the workplace project pilots the development of the integration service package of the “Good start” project part of the Kotona in Finland project in a large network. The project is implemented by Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and the target area is Pirkanmaa. The project’s main target group is unemployed immigrants, who need personal internship, continuing training, coaching and mentoring to support integration in the workplace. The indirect target group of the project is companies and work organisations that need language and culture experts in the target countries in their market areas to support their internationalisation and growth, as well as potential material experts in their field of activity. The aim of the immigrant Skills for Jobs project is to implement a service model with the focus on early integration of the immigrant into Finnish working life and, consequently, employment through training and internships. The project responds to the post-integration joint phase and supports the employment of unemployed migrants. It offers immigrants the opportunity to engage in Finnish society through education, business internationalisation needs and internships. The training develops the employability and career guidance content of immigrants. As a result of the project, a service model for joint training post-integration training will be created in cooperation between different organisations to promote the employment of immigrants and access to education and entrepreneurship. The service model for education has a flexible structure and operating method that takes into account the different needs of immigrants. The training model has ensured the long-term exploitation of the results of integration training. The training implemented in the project promotes the transition of unemployed immigrants into the labour market through cultural and export training, internships in companies seeking internationalisation and individual career guidance and skills portfolio. Immigrants’ contacts with working life are strengthened, the joint work of immigrants and native Finns enriches and familiarises them with culture-specific approaches in work communities. The partners in the project are TE Office, Tampere Regional Vocational College Tredu, Tampere Adult Education Centre TAKK, Pirkanmaa Region Reception Centres, Pirkanmaa Entrepreneurs’ Associations, Tampere Chamber of Commerce, Tampere City Region Business and Development Company Tredea Oy, Tampere Region Uusliikekeskus ry Ensimetri, Pirkanmaa Federation and the municipalities of Pirkanmaa, as well as separately selected pilot companies. Koulutusmallin avulla on varmistettu kotoutumiskoulutuksessa saavutettujen tulosten pitkän aikavälin hyödyntäminen. Hankkeessa toteutettava koulutus edistää työttömien maahanmuuttajien siirtymistä työmarkkinoille kulttuuri- ja vientikoulutuksen, kansainvälistymistä hakevassa yrityksessä tapahtuvan työharjoittelun sekä yksilöllisen uraohjauksen ja osaamisportfolion avulla. Maahanmuuttajien kontaktit työelämään vahvistuvat, maahanmuuttajien ja kantasuomalaisten yhteinen tekeminen rikastuttaa ja tekee tutuksi kulttuurisidonnaisia toimintatapoja työyhteisöissä. Yhteistyökumppaneina hankkeessa ovat TE-toimisto, Tampereen seudun ammattiopisto Tredu, Tampereen aikuiskoulutuskeskus TAKK, Pirkanmaan alueen vastaanottokeskukset, Pirkanmaan yrittäjäjärjestöt, Tampereen kauppakamari, Tampereen kaupunkiseudun elinkeino- ja kehitysyhtiö Tredea Oy, Tampereen Seudun Uusyrityskeskus ry Ensimetri, Pirkanmaan liitto ja Pirkanmaan kunnat sekä erikseen valikoituvat pilottiyritykset.
