Public-private Innovation (OPI) is increasingly deployed in Denmark, but new findings indicate that the OPI-partners have been challenged on the cooperation and innovation process they run (Council of Public Private Cooperation, 2015). The values of the heterogeneous partners, ways of working and wishes for cooperation complicates common understanding and complicates the development of solutions that satisfy the user needs of the public sector. Innovation collaboration between public and private individuals is often carried out with the aim of rethinking and developing public welfare solutions. The value of bringing together public and private actors is precisely to make use of the diversity of knowledge and competences held by the various partners. The LDL project will professionalise project projects through a Living Design Lab (LDL), where project management will be supported by design thinking (king the facilitation and use of design methods), partly to help imspeaking the knowledge of the partners and to develop common understanding to generate user insights through several test environments, which are translated into valuable solutions for the benefit of both private and public partners. Living Design Lab will operate as a test site for 4 OPI projects, where 36 management and staff from 12 SME enterprises will become knowledge supported and will receive ready for each project. In concrete terms, the LDL project will result in 4 refined innovative welfare methodologies that will subsequently be brought into the OPI-pool or other similar initiatives with a focus on commercialisation. This will achieve a full OPHI value chain, where the process is supported by the shock up idea for commercialised product. The results of the LDL project could provide a valuable basis for OPI projects at national, regional and municipal level with its particular focus on the co-creation and facilitation of silent knowledge and expectations between the partners.
