The bogs of the Massif Central: a chance for the territory This action is part of a major program on the bogs of the Massif Central over four years aimed at improving the proper functioning of the hydrosystem “tourbière” and developing a good awareness of this heritage ecosystem useful to society. This programme combines operations to improve knowledge (the role of peatlands in the water cycle, in particular on the support of stretching...), work on the state of the bogs of the Massif Central in the Rhône-Alpes, on the impact of grazing and on the use of LIDAR data, work on the restoration of sites already equipped with a validated management plan (deletion of plantations, filling of drains, remanding of streams, watering point development, pond curing... ), land animation and the development of concerted management plans. Several awareness-raising activities reinforce this field work, aimed at bringing peatlands and the services they provide to local populations, and to promote their ownership. They consist of local actions aimed at the general public and the school population, and in more transversal actions, serving this strong message: The bogs of the Central Massif, a chance for the territory! Les tourbières du Massif central : une chance pour le territoire Cette action entre dans le cadre d'un programme d'envergure sur les tourbières du Massif central sur quatre ans visant à améliorer le bon fonctionnement de l'hydrosystème « tourbière » et développer une bonne sensibilisation à cet écosystème patrimonial utile à la société. Ce programme associe des opérations d'amélioration des connaissances (rôle des tourbières dans le cycle de l'eau, en particulier sur le soutien d'étiage...), un travail sur l'état des tourbières du Massif central en Rhône-Alpes, sur l'impact du pâturage et sur l'utilisation des données LIDAR, des travaux de restauration de sites déjà dotés d'un plan de gestion validé (suppression de plantations, comblement de drains, reméandrage de ruisseaux, aménagement de point d'abreuvement, curage de mares... ), de l'animation foncière et l'élaboration de plans de gestion concertés. Plusieurs actions de sensibilisation renforcent ce travail de terrain, visant à rapprocher les tourbières et les services qu'elles rendent des populations locales, et d'en favoriser l'appropriation. Elles se déclinent en actions locales à destination du grand public et du public scolaire, et en actions plus transversales, au service de ce message fort : « Les tourbières du Massif central, une chance pour le territoire ! » (French)
