La société Martinique Nutrition Animale (MNA), créée depuis 36 ans, est spécialisée dans la production et la commercialisation d’aliments pour animaux tels que volailles, ovins, porcs, chevaux, lapins, etc. De plus, elle propose dans une moindre mesure, une activité de négoce concernant l’alimentation pour chiens, chats, porcelets, accessoires d’animalerie et matériels d’élevage et des œufs, animaux vivants, etc. Son offre de produits est constituée d’une centaine d’aliments répartis dans des gammes selon le type, l’âge du bétail et les exigences du client. Pour ce qui concerne le processus de production, les matières premières brutes (maïs, blé) ou en tourteau (soja) reçues par cargo sont stockées dans des silos de 750 tonnes chacun dont 3 au port et 3 à l’usine du Lamentin. Après la réception et le stockage, les matières premières et les macro-ingrédients sont pesés et dosés afin de passer dans le broyeur puis dans le tamiseur. Ensuite, dans la mélangeuse, à ces éléments sont ajoutés des micros-ingrédients ainsi que des liquides. Au bout de ce processus, 3 types de produits sont fabriqués à savoir les granulés (22 %), les miettes (6%) et les farines (72%). Dans le cadre de l’exploitation, MNA emploie 75 salariés dont 61 CDI. Son projet actuel est de se moderniser tant au niveau des activités de l’usine qu’au niveau commercial (création d’un véritable show-room pour la marchandise et d’un espace de stockage plus important dans le cadre de ses activités de production).
