Property / summary: In recent years there has been a continuous evolution of the market and there is a progressive trend towards large format materials and different thicknesses (ceramic plates) that can expand their field of application, together with the development of new compacting technologies, dry decoration and digital decoration that allow the reproduction of the most diverse decorative motifs, it is intended to give these materials a great prominence in international markets, up to now consumers of natural products such as marble or wood. Some of the materials most present on the market are marmoleated and stone materials with high gloss finish surfaces, produced by the surface addition of different types of resins or in the case of ceramic materials, through the use of novel polishing systems. The market demand in this type of products has directed technological and productive efforts towards the development of high gloss surfaces, and great aesthetic value resulting from the application of novel raw materials (granillas) to the surface of the materials that after grading, during the cooking subprocess and subsequent polishing process, allow the obtaining of aesthetic effects of great added value. These aesthetic finishes, although they have come to meet a strong demand from the market, have not been able to complete the total current demand of interior designers directed towards surfaces of natural and pleasant touches at the same time of finishes with lack of gloss. Echoing this demand and through INALCO’s extensive experience in the development of ceramic plates and thanks to the experience of RPC in the treatment of ceramic surfaces, the general objective of the project is to develop a new technology for the production of ceramic plates of novel textures to the touch developed by polishing systems Mate.
