The overall objective of this coordinated project is to study the benefits of physical exercise in pediatric cancer (solid tumors) with a multidisciplinary and translational approach (epidemiological, clinical, preclinical and fundamental). The specific objectives of this sub-project (SP2, intervention clinical study) are: evaluate the effects of a 6-week in-hospital supervised physical exercise program for patients with medulloblastoma during treatment with radiation therapy, following a randomised and controlled design, on various variables, such as children’s ability and physical function, levels of physical activity, body composition and quality of life (1), in addition to their neurocognitive and neuromotor capacity (2). On the other hand, this sub-project will serve, on the basis of its coordination with SP1 and SP3, to (3) analyse the effects of the programme on cell immunity in blood (SP1), the reinforcement of the immune response — NK cells — (SP3) and the plasma proteome (SP1).
