Property / summary
The objective is to estimate the rate of IQ-range cancer (global and by IC subtype) in several colorectal cancer prevention (CCR) programs in Spain, evaluate their determinants and compare the characteristics of these cancers with the cancers detected in the cirbado programs (CC), taking into account organizational characteristics of the programs, characteristics of people, family and personal history, diagnostic stage and other markers. Methodology: A multicenter retrospective cohort study of persons participating in the RCC screening of the Valencian Community (CV), Murcia (M), Canary Islands (C), Basque Country (PV); and case/case-control study to estimate the differences between ICs and CCs. The population is 691,154 people aged 50 to 69 participating from 1/12/2005 to 31/12/2013 in these programs. The estimated IQs according to scenarios are 441-661. They will be reviewed between 1322-1984 medical records to estimate the overall rate and by IC subtypes, and to evaluate the relationship of IC rates to the type of screening test, the organizational characteristics of the screening program, age and sex, using bivariate and multivariate analyses by Poisson regression. The expected results of this study will improve the quality of RCC screening programmes in Spain and identify factors that can help to “individualise” the screening or monitoring of adenomas, contributing to the improvement of efficiency.
