The main objective of the SPIRE project is the design of a new type of solar plant, which is characterised by having a solar field formed by photovoltaic modules (PV) that, on the one hand, absorbs part of sunlight by injecting it into the grid in the same way as a PV power plant, while, on the other hand, they reflect infrared rays to a central receiver solar power plant (CSP), which allows the storage of energy by heating liquids. This is achieved through the insertion into photovoltaic modules of selective light filters, which perform spectral separation of solar radiation, which can be done at very low cost using dip-coating techniques. _x000D_ is therefore a new concept of plant PV — CSP, whose technological core resides in the hybridisation of a solar photovoltaic field and a solar tower power plant.
