El objetivo principal de este proyecto es la caracterización del papel vectorial de Acanthamoeba como reservorio de Legionella spp y su repercusión en: a) la adquisición de patologías infecciosas en el ámbito de la comunidad y en un entorno nosocomial, b) en la modulación de factores de virulencia e interacción con el hospedador; contribuyendo a la mejora del diagnóstico mediante el desarrollo de nuevas herramientas para su traslación al ámbito sanitario.
