Namen programa PUD 2018-2022 je zagotovitev boljše usklajenosti in povezanosti sistema poklicnega izobraževanja s potrebami trga dela preko mehanizma spodbud delodajalcem za zagotavljanje učnih mest za dijake, vajence in študente višjega strokovnega izobraževanja. Skladno z OP EKP 2014-2020 je cilj programa uvedba izobraževalnega sistema v srednje poklicne in višje strokovne šole, ki bo bolj prilagojen potrebam trga dela in bo zagotavljal lažji in hitrejši prehod mladih v zaposlitev. Preko nadaljevanja izvajanja uveljavljenih modelov in uvedbe novih modelov praktičnega usposabljanja v šolah se bo krepilo sodelovanje delodajalcev in socialnih partnerjev v izobraževalnem procesu.
