Background: Due to the implications of positive parentality on social cohesion, health and citizen well-being and the current socio-economic context, policies are being developed at European and national level to support fathers and mothers from the birth of children. There are few instruments available in Spanish to study and evaluate support interventions for fathers and mothers. Objective: Adapt to Spanish a battery of questionnaires, with original versions with appropriate psychometric characteristics, which measure aspects relevant to the study of parentality such as fatigue, social support, security, the feeling of competence, the experience of motherhood/paternity and the bond with the children of mothers and their partners. Methods: The adaptation of questionnaires shall be based on the usual procedure of translation-retranslation and cognitive evaluation of the versions obtained. To determine the psychometric characteristics of the questionnaires, a sample of 1500 couples attended by the birth of a child in 13 Spanish hospitals is foreseen. It will include couples who can speak and read Spanish whose mothers have had low-risk, non-multiple pregnancies and births. Information will be obtained on variables related to the score of the questionnaires according to the literature, through self-completed questionnaires and the review of the medical history at postpartum discharge and through online questionnaires at the first, sixth and twelfth months postpartum. Reliability will be assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient and corrected item-total correlations and validity by confirmatory factor analysis and convergent/divergent evidence. (English)
