The IRONESS project aims to develop a comprehensive solution to diagnose the problem of lane wear and tear and to provide an appropriate solution in each particular case, allowing to reduce the costs of rail maintenance._x000D_ The Consortium for the development of the IRONESS project has been formed following a criterion of scientific and technical excellence, multisectoral and regional pluridad, in order to meet the technical requirements of the project and the priorities of the FEDER INNTERCONECTA programme in its 2015 call. _x000D_ _x000D_ the maintenance costs of railway tracks due to the continuous degradation of rails and the permanent need for refurbishment (in the form of systematic continuous grinding — both preventive and corrective — and periodic rail replacement) are unavailable. El proyecto IRONESS tiene por objeto el desarrollo de una solución integral para diagnosticar el problema del desgaste ondulatorio del carril y proporcionar una solución adecuada en cada caso concreto, permitiendo reducir los costes del mantenimiento ferroviario._x000D_ El Consorcio para el desarrollo del proyecto IRONESS se ha formado siguiendo un criterio de excelencia científica y técnica, multisectorial y pluridad regional, para cumplir así con los requisitos técnicos del proyecto y las prioridades del programa FEDER INNTERCONECTA en su convocatoria 2015. _x000D_ _x000D_ Los costes de mantenimiento de las vías ferroviarias debidos a la continua degradación de los carriles y la permanente necesidad de rehabilitación de los mismos (en forma de amolados continuos sistemáticos –tanto preventivos como correctivos- y de sustitución periódica de los carriles) son inasumibles. Los aspectos negativos de este problema no se limitan al desorbitado sobrecoste generado, sino que además suponen una reducción significativa de la capacidad de la red, ocasionan un problema de seguridad debido al defectuoso estado del carril y multiplican el consumo de energía._x000D_ Esta problemática no solo se ha convertido en una de las prioridades de las administraciones ferroviarias, sino que también figura como una de las primeras líneas de actuación en todas las agendas y documentos de Prioridades Científico-Tecnológicas no no solo a nivel nacional, sino también europeo y mundial._x000D_ Mediante el desarrollo del proyecto IRONESS y la consecución de los objetivos que se han establecido, se pretende obtener el incremento de la competitividad y la eficiencia en el sector ferroviario, un beneficio medioambiental y el fomento de la cooperación entre agentes científico tecnológicos.
