In bipolar disorder there is a high prevalence of episodes with mixed symptoms. Therefore it is necessary to have an instrument that evaluates clinical symptomatology completely regardless of the characteristics of the episode. Objective: Design a reliable and valid scale to evaluate bipolar disorder in a complete manner, so as to cover the entire spectrum of clinical manifestations present in the bipolar disorder, i.e. episodes of manic and depressive polarity, as well as associated mixed symptoms. Methodology: The study consists of two phases: the design of the scale and the validation of the scale. During the first phase, the relevant items for the manic and depressive dimensions will be selected. For validation of the scale, patients with bipolar disorder will be recruited according to DSM-5 criteria in a quota sampling to ensure representativeness. Control groups with another psychiatric disorder and general population will be selected to determine the discriminative capacity of the scale. (English)

(Spanish)
