The Data Processing Center (CPD) 3Mares, located in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Cantabria (UC), hosts and provides support to the scientific-technical equipment of a high-performance computational nature, necessary for the correct development of the activities of various UC research groups. This infrastructure, launched in July 2010 and fundamental for the adequate exploitation of the computer equipment it houses, has already reached the end of its life cycle, according to technical criteria. That is why it requires a complete renovation and incorporation of improvements, which guarantee the continuity of the R & D activities that depend on said infrastructure. These improvements consist in the acquisition of new air conditioning equipment, with a high energy efficiency and a lower environmental impact. Currently, the CPD hosts the HPC / HTC Calderon cluster and the support clusters for SdeI research, as well as the Climate Data Service. With all this, the infrastructure supports multiple national projects, H2020, ERA-NET, and national and international research contracts. These R & D activities are from the following areas: Computer Architecture, Theoretical Physics of Condensed Matter, Meteorology and Climate, Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics, Economics and Labor Participation of Women, Computational Physics of Materials, Oceanographic and Coastal Engineering and Data Science.
