DICHOS EFECTOS SALUDABLES SE OBSERVAN EN ASPECTOS GENERALES COMO EL PESO CORPORAL, LA ADIPOSIDAD Y EL TIPO DE SUSTRATO OXIDATIVO, PERO TAMBIEN EN PARAMETROS ESPECIFICOS DE LA FUNCIONALIDAD DE LA PARED INTESTINAL, COMO LA BARRERA FISIOLOGICA O LAS FUNCIONES INMUNOENTEROENDOCRINAS._x000D_ EN ESTE CONTEXTO, SE PLATEA LA HIPOTESIS DE QUE "LOS EXTRACTOS RICOS EN PROANTOCIANIDINAS, A TRAVES DE SU INTERACCION CON EL TRACTO GASTROINTESTINAL, PODRIAN CONDICIONAR LA FUNCIONALIDAD DEL ORGANISMO DE UNA MANERA PROLONGADA, EVITANDO LA PERDIDA DE LA FLEXIBILIDAD METABOLICA ASOCIADA CON DESAFIOS METABOLICOS DE ALTA INCIDENCIA EN LA POBLACION ACTUAL: DIETAS OBESOGENICAS Y ENVEJECIMIENTO "._x000D_ _x000D_ EL OBJETIVO GENERAL DE ESTA PROPUESTA ES DETERMINAR LA EFICACIA Y LOS MECANISMOS MEDIANTE LOS CUALES LOS FLAVANOLES ACTUAN A LARGO PLAZO SOBRE LA FUNCION ENTEROENDOCRINA E INMUNOPROTECTORA DEL TRACTO GASTROINTESTINAL MEJORANDO LA HOMEOSTASIS METABOLICA DISTORSIONADA POR DIETAS OBESOGENICAS Y / O ENVEJECIMIENTO._x000D_ _x000D_ DADO QUE EL TRACTO GASTROINTESTINAL ES LA PUERTA DE ENTRADA A NUESTRO ORGANISMO, PROPONEMOS INICIAR LA EVALUACION DE LA BIOACTIVIDAD SOBRE LA FUNCION BARRERA E IMMUNOENTEROENDOCRINA EN COLON HUMANO DE FUENTES DE PROTEINAS DERIVADAS DE INSECTOS. POR TANTO NUESTRO OBJETIVO SECUNDARIO SERIA: IDENTIFICAR NUEVOS COMPUESTOS BIOACTIVOS SOBRE ESTAS FUNCIONES DERIVADAS DE FUENTES PROTEICAS DE ALTA CALIDAD BIOLOGICA Y RESPETUOSA CON EL MEDIO AMBIENTE._x000D_ _x000D_ LOS RESULTADOS DE ESTE ESTUDIO PRETENDEN DEFINIR LOS EFECTOS MEMORIA DE EXTRACTOS RICOS EN PROANTOCIANIDINAS, A NIVEL DEL TRACTO GASTROINTESTINAL, QUE PUEDEN CONDUCIR A LA DEFINICION DE ALIMENTOS BIOACTIVOS O NUTRACEUTICOS CON CAPACIDAD PREVENTIVA FRENTE A SITUACIONES DE SOBREPESO Y ENVEJECIMIENTO CON UNA DOSIFICACION ESPORADICA. ESTOS RESULTADOS PODRIAN CONDUCIR A UNA PATENTE QUE SERIA APLICABLE EN LOS PROXIMOS AÑOS. TAMBIEN ESPERAMOS GENERAR NUEVOS CONOCIMIENTOS SOBRE LA FUNCIONALIDAD DEL INTESTINO Y EL USO DE SUSTRATOS DE PROTEINAS NUEVOS Y MAS SOSTENIBLES. (Spanish)

    LOSS OF QUALITY OF LIFE IN INDIVIDUALS IS ASSOCIATED WITH LOSS OF METABOLIC ROBUSTNESS. THIS IS NOW A PROBLEM IN DEVELOPED SOCIETIES AND A GROWING PHENOMENA IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES DUE TO HIGH FOOD AVAILABILITY BUT ALSO DUE TO A LONGER LIFE EXPECTANCY. PREVIOUS RESULTS FROM OUR GROUP IN RODENTS INDICATE THAT SUBCHRONIC TREATMENTS WITH PROANTHOCYANIDINS MAY ACT AS PREVENTIVES AGAINST METABOLIC DISTORTIONS INDUCED BY AN OBESOGENIC DIET AND THAT THIS EFFECTIVENESS MAY HAVE A RELATIVELY PROLONGED DURATION (LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS). THESE HEALTHY EFFECTS ARE OBSERVED ON GENERAL ASPECTS SUCH AS BODY WEIGHT, ADIPOSITY AND TYPE OF OXIDATIVE SUBSTRATE, BUT ALSO ON SPECIFIC PARAMETERS OF INTESTINAL WALL FUNCTIONALITY, SUCH AS PHYSIOLOGICAL BARRIER OR IMMUNOENTEROENDOCRINE FUNCTIONS._x000D_ _x000D_ IN THIS CONTEXT, WE HYPOTHESIZE THAT "EXTRACTS RICH IN PROANTHOCYANIDINS, THROUGH THEIR INTERACTION WITH THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT, COULD CONDITION THE ORGANISM'S FUNCTIONALITY IN A PROLONGED WAY, PREVENTING LOSS OF METABOLIC FLEXIBILITY ASSOCIATED WITH METABOLIC CHALLENGES OF HIGH INCIDENCE IN THE CURRENT POPULATION, OBESOGENIC DIETS AND / OR AGEING"._x000D_ _x000D_ THE GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROPOSAL IS TO DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND MECHANISMS BY WHICH PROANTHOCYANIDINS ACT IN THE LONG TERM ON THE ENTEROENDOCRINE AND IMMUNOPROTECTIVE FUNCTION OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT BY IMPROVING THE METABOLIC HOMEOSTASIS DISTORTED BY OBESOGENIC DIETS AND/OR AGEING. _x000D_ _x000D_ SINCE THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT IS THE GATEWAY TO OUR ORGANISM, WE PROPOSE ALSO TO INITIATE THE EVALUATION OF THE BIOACTIVITY OF INSECT PROTEIN SOURCES ON THE BARRIER AND IMMUNOENTEROENDOCRINE FUNCTION ON HUMAN COLON. BEING A SECONDARY OBJECTIVE TO IDENTIFY NEW BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS TO THESE FUNCTIONS DERIVED FROM PROTEIN SOURCES OF HIGH BIOLOGICAL QUALITY AND RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THE ENVIRONMENT._x000D_ _x000D_ THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY AIM TO DEFINE THE MEMORY EFFECTS OF EXTRACTS RICH IN PROANTHOCYANIDINS AT THE LEVEL OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT THAT CAN LEAD TO THE DEFINITION OF NUTRACEUTICAL OR BIOACTIVE FOODS WITH PREVENTIVE CAPACITY USING A SPORADIC DOSAGE AGAINST SITUATIONS OF OVERWEIGHT AND AGEING. THESE RESULTS COULD LEAD TO A PATENT THAT WOULD BE OF APPLICABILITY IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS. WE ALSO EXPECT TO GENERATE NEW KNOWLEDGE REGARDING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF INTESTINE AND THE USE OF NEW AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PROTEIN SUBSTRATES. (English)
