Předmětem projektu je výstavba přeložky silnice I/20 v celkové délce hlavní trasy 1,381 km v kategorii MS4d 28/22,5/70. Přeložka je součástí souboru staveb I/20 Jasmínová - Studentská. Realizací projektu dojde k převedení tranzitní dopravy na novou komunikaci I/20 mimo centrální oblasti a hustě zastavěné území města Plzně, a tím snížení zátěže obyvatelstva hlukem a exhalacemi z automobilové dopravy, zvýšení plynulosti dopravy, zkrácení jízdní doby a zvýšení bezpečnosti silničního provozu.
