In line with the European Union’s cohesion policy and the European Commission’s key objective of ‘Strengthening research, development and innovation’, the project ‘Increasing the economic competitiveness of the forestry sector and quality of life through the transfer of knowledge, technology and RDI skills’ aims to stimulate increased knowledge and technology transfer between forestry research and development organisations and their access to funding in research, development and innovation (R & D & I) by encouraging private investment and research partnerships. Starting from the general objective of the project, which is to increase the capacity and economic competitiveness of enterprises in the forestry sector on the basis of the provision of services and the multiple benefits that sustainable forest and forestry provides to Romanian society, the aim of the proposed project is to ensure the increase of the impact of the economic activities in the forestry sector through a better transfer of knowledge and expertise between research and the economic environment, achieving a strong and dynamic forest sector based on a source of renewable raw material. The achievement of the specific objectives within the project can be achieved through activities related to the access of enterprises to the infrastructure/laboratories/CD equipment through skills/competence transfer services, based on processes and new regulations of the forestry production process, and on optimal sustainable management and forest protection technologies to obtain goods and services in order to increase human well-being and quality of life. At the same time, in order to increase the contribution of the forest sector to rural development and environmental protection, effective collaborative research will be developed on the evaluation of timber resources, monitoring the conservation of forest biodiversity and their productive potential, economic evaluation of the functions and services provided by forest ecosystems. These specific objectives set out in the proposed project contribute to: increasing the competitiveness of Romanian forestry by increasing the impact of economic activities through a better transfer of knowledge and expertise between research and the economic environment; increasing the contribution of the Romanian forestry research and development system to increasing the European knowledge stock by increasing international visibility and transferring the results to the socio-economic system in general, and forestry practice in particular; increasing the role of forestry science in society by developing and implementing solutions that generate direct social benefits at local, regional, national and European level, specific to problems related to rural development and environmental protection (spatial planning, enhancement of forest resources (English) | |||||||||||||||
