The general objective of the project The enhancement of the archaeological site Tirighina-Barboasă is to preserve, protect, promote and develop the natural and cultural heritage, in order to boost local development through the preservation, protection and valorisation of cultural heritage and cultural identity. At the same time, the financing of the project “Valuation of the Tirighina-Barbos archaeological site” will also contribute to the implementation of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). With a common history and traditions, culture and arts that reflect different communities in the region, as well as an extraordinary natural heritage, the region has very attractive assets, one of which is the dominant position of the Tirighina hill at the confluence of the Danube with the Siret and the opening to Dobrogea. In ancient times and until late in the Medieval Age, Galatius and, implicitly, Barbos, was the main communication hub on the road that came from Tyras (Alba Fortress) and went down the valley of Siret and Trotuş to Poland and Ukraine. Obiectivul general al proiectului Punerea în valoare a sitului arheologic Tirighina-Barboși constă în conservarea, protejarea, promovarea și dezvoltarea patrimoniului natural și cultural, în vederea impulsionării dezvoltării locale prin conservarea, protejarea și valorificarea patrimoniului cultural și a identității culturale. Totodată, finanțarea proiectului „Punerea în valoare a sitului arheologic Tirighina-Barboși” va contribui și la implementarea Strategiei Uniunii Europene pentru Regiunea Dunării (SUERD). Cu o istorie și tradiții comune, cultura și artele care reflectă diferite comunități din regiune, ca și un patrimoniu natural extraordinar, regiunea are atuuri foarte atractive, unul dintre acestea fiind poziția dominantă a dealului Tirighina la confluența Dunării cu Siretul și deschiderea către Dobrogea. În antichitate și până târziu în Epoca Medievală, Galațiul și implicit Barboși, a fost nod principal de comunicație pe drumul care venea din Tyras (Cetatea Alba) și mergea pe valea Siretului și Trotușului spre Polonia și Ucraina.
