The old city centre had been scattered several times during the Croatian War of Independence, and has been devastated and deprived today. Due to precarious and risky facilities, roads and roads are not regulated and illuminated that hinders the organisation of any social and economic activities in that part of the city. There is also a lack of a better functional link with the two key points in the city, the fortress and the Krk river, making this space even more contentious in social and economic terms. Around 70 % of the old urban core is uninhabited, abandoned and prone to further urban deprivation. This space, although most important in terms of historical and functional terms, is becoming an increasing threat to the safety of the inhabitants of the old town or city and the rest of the population and visitors. Investments in the old municipal core are needed not only to improve the visual impression, but also to preserve the city’s heritage and revitalise urban life that has moved to other, newer parts of the city. Restoring infrastructure within an old urban core would create the pre-conditions for returning the content and enabling a better connection to other locations in the city, triggering the former social but also economic impact of the old city core, as well as the population. Indeed, there are many facilities that can be edited for business purposes, such as housing and old urban markets complex, which is now not operational, however, by restoring content and social life to that area, it could be re-connecting local domestic products and final customers. Ovoj lokaciji također nedostaje bolja funkcionalna povezanost s dvjema ključnima točkama u gradu, tvrđavom i rijekom Krkom, čime se taj prostor još više zaobilazi u društvenom i gospodarskom pogledu.
