Our project tackles problem which is quite old but has never been properly approached mostly due to a fact that it cannot be solved with classical means. Namely, we address the issue of trust in the manufacturers and vendors of the devices used for cryptography. In the past we had two options, either: (a) trust them; or (b) build the devices ourselves. The second option was available only to the entities which had necessary expertise and resources. A change comes with the advent of quantum technologies. Recently, first device-independent protocols were proposed. In our project we intend to turn them into practical devices. This will not only allow smaller companies to have access to the highest levels of security but also the government agencies will be able to use subcontractors without compromising their secrets.
