Traťový úsek Golčův Jeníkov - Čáslav, který je předmětem projektu, je součástí dráhy celostátní, leží na trati zařazené do Evropského železničního systému TEN-T s charakterem mimokoridorová trať hlavních tahů celostátní dráhy. Většina prvků žel. tratě je na hranici fyzické a morální životnosti nebo i za ní. Provozuschopnost železniční tratě se daří udržovat jen za cenu vysokých nákladů. Realizací investiční akce bude železniční trať uvedena do normového stavu. (Czech)
