Účelem záměru je ekologizace zdroje, která představuje zejména nahradit stávající suché odsíření kotlů K6 až K10 na pevná paliva mokrým odsířením spalin, které bude probíhat v nově instalovaném absorbéru. Odsířené spaliny budou odcházet přímo do nového komína instalovaného na absorbéru.
