Projekt Archipelag cyfrowy - Nowa biblioteka w Rudzie Śląskiej, polega na przeprowadzeniu kompleksowych działań mających na celu unowocześnienie pracy biblioteki i dostosowania jej działalności do standardów europejskich. W ramach projektu zostanie uruchomiona wirtualna wypożyczalnia zasobów bibliotecznych w 12 filiach w Rudzie Śląskiej. Ponadto zostaną zautomatyzowane procesy wewnątrzbiblioteczne poprzez uzupełnienie systemu PROLIB o kluczowe moduły. Biblioteka rozpocznie również proces digitalizacji zasobów kulturalnych, archiwizowania ich i udostępniania w formie cyfrowej zainteresowanym użytkownikom. Zachowana zostanie przy tym procesie zasada „Dobrych praktyk”–nie powielanie tego, co już jest poddane digitalizacji i upublicznione w sieci. Dodatkowo, w ramach digitalizacji zaplanowano wprowadzenie streamingu utworów audiowizualnych-uzupełnienie działań leżących w sferze informacyjnej i edukacyjnej biblioteki poprzez utworzenie bazy lokalnych działań artystycznych i społecznych. The Digital Archipelago project – The new library in Ruda Śląska, consists of carrying out comprehensive activities aimed at modernising the library’s work and adapting its activities to European standards. As part of the project, a virtual rental of library resources in 12 branches in Ruda Śląska will be launched. In addition, automated intra-library processes will be completed by supplementing the PROLIB system with key modules. The library will also start the process of digitising cultural resources, archiving them and making them available digitally to interested users. The “Good Practice” principle will be maintained in this process – not to duplicate what is already digitised and made public on the Internet. In addition, as part of digitisation, the introduction of streaming of audiovisual works is planned to complement activities in the field of information and education of the library by establishing a basis for local artistic and social activities.
