Projekt zakłada poprawę ograniczonego potencjału operacyjnego terminalu w Kutnie poprzez zwiększenie jego zdolności przeładunkowej w wyniku rozbudowy i doposażenia w nowoczesne urządzenia przeładunkowe typu RTG i RMG oraz maszyny przeładunkowe. Inwestycja na terminalu jako elemencie systemu transportu intermodalnego, będzie służyła zwiększeniu udziału transportu kolejowego w odniesieniu do transportu drogowego, tym samym przyczyni się do zwiększenia udziału transportu intermodalnego w ogólnych przewozach ładunków. Projekt obejmuje zakup 4 maszyn przeładunkowych typu reachstacker, zakup 2 suwnic RTG do prac terminalowych, zakup 7 naczep terminalowych, zakup 3 ciągników terminalowych, zakup 2 maszyn do przestawiania pustych kontenerów tzw. empty handler oraz zakup suwnicy RMG.
