MUZEUM PODLASKIE W BIAŁYMSTOKU
0 references
The Museum Podlaskie in Bialystok and the Grodno State Museum of History and Archaeology have a huge number of artifacts of great historical and cultural value. There is a need to implement common research projects between the partners in order to better understand the culture and traditions of the region. Museum collections require regular work to protect and conserve them. A large part of the artifacts in the museum's collections have a great historical and cultural value. However, they can be destroyed due to their poor condition. Unfortunately, there is no institution specializing in the protection of museum collections neither in Podlaskie nor in Grodno Regions. The project called "Construction of regional Centres for Research and Conservation of Monuments " aims to improve the conservation of artifacts in the Museum Podlaskie in Bialystok and the Grodna State Museum of History and Archaeology. North-eastern Poland and western Belarus are culturally coherent. At present, such conservation laboratories of artifacts exist in both places but they are not adapted and well-equipped. In the Museum Podlaskie in Białystok, the department of Conservation of Artifacts has been functioning since 1990. This department was located in one of our branches – in Białystok Village Museum in Osowicze near Białystok – until September 2016. In the same year this branch was excluded from the structures of the Museum Podlaskie, forming a new cultural institution called the Museum of Folk Culture in Podlasie. The employees from the old branch were transferred into the new institution. The Laboratory of Conservation of Artifacts remained in the structure of the Museum Podlaskie in Białystok. However, due to the division, the laboratory had to leave the previously occupied rooms and move to a different location. (Polish)
