In relation to one of EU goals in the 2014-2020 implementation period, defined in Europe 2020 Strategy: moving towards a low-carbon economy, and in relation to other goals, specifically: employment, innovation, education, poverty reduction and climate/energy, this project has been developed. It is the answer to one of the target thematic priorities of the Program: Environment, nature, risk prevention, sustainable energy and energy efficiency. Overall objective of the project is to strengthen and mobilize research and innovation capacity in the programme area into solving key renewable energy issues, thus contributing to renewable energy utilization trough smart secure, competitive and sustainable cross-border Micro Power Plant initiative. Renewable energy utilization is one of the main tools for sustainable energy and climate change mitigation development. Project output is: Hybrid solar-wind power module for Micro power plants (MPP) developed, put to production and promoted in the programme region. Awareness raising and promotion is part of the sustainability, along with education and introduction to funding schemes. Main target groups are SMEs, scientific and development institutions in the program area, along with the citizens and local administration interested in development of RES projects. As Croatia is already member of EU and has been developing transposed of RES policy, the knowledge from Croatian partners on policy, funding and technology in particular, will be of benefit to BH partners. On the other side, BH partners are experienced in investment cycles and will ensure possibilities for partnership in investment and development of small RES systems for public buildings. According to EPBD directive, low energy buildings (NZEB in particular) are to produce most or all of their energy used on the place. In relation to performance of buildings indicator, this is necessary and relevant development issue. (English)
