Climate Sensitivity Index for the World Heritage Site High Coast/Kvarken Archipelago | |||||||||||||||
Property / summary | |||||||||||||||
The project will investigate the effects of climate change on the High Coast/Kvarken Archipelago World Heritage Site and its unique values in order to develop appropriate measures to counteract these. The steep coastal landscape of the High Coast and the low-lying archipelago of Kvarken show in a unique way how the geological processes, the ice age, the land elevation and the sea for thousands of years have shaped and still shape the landscape, plant and animal life and our entire habitat. In the project Climate Sensitivity to the High Coast/Kvarken Archipelago, Sweden and Finland will examine the effects of climate change on the World Heritage Site and its unique values in order to develop appropriate measures to counteract these.
