BizMentors aims to develop, scale and expand an innovative low cost structured business mentoring initiative developed in Galway (west of Ireland) across a diverse range of settings with its partners in the NPA Region, making expertise accessible, inclusive and sustainable to enterprises in dispersed communities. BizMentors, by providing and sharing expertise about low cost, structured business mentoring will equip individuals & businesses with the supports, skills, networks & confidence to take advantage of the unique natural capital and innovation capacity that remains untapped in the NPA. BizMentors is an interactive, accessible, inclusive platform for all businesses, and compliments and supplements existing mentoring support offerings. This project will utilise a user-centric quadruple helix approach to overcome common challenges experienced by start-ups and SMEs in the NPA region. Through innovations and shared learning, this project will enhance, extend and validate the existing model across partner regions and sectors. Through research and engaging with end users, piloting of a business mentoring programme will take place, focusing on a specific business sector (processing/refinement of natural resources) in the partner countries. The mentoring model developed will suit each region participating in the project, and ensure it’s transferability to other business sectors, and other countries (not just in the NPA region). To support this, a transnational best practice business model handbook and online interactive platform will be developed that can be used to address challenges in different countries. BizMentors will provide a new solution as it will provide free mentoring and support to start-ups and existing SMEs who have difficulty accessing expertise. BizMentors will inform decision makers seeking to implement effective, low cost and sustainable mentoring solutions through mainstream programmes across the NPA and beyond. (English)
