The effects of climate change, which are also becoming increasingly noticeable in Europe, pose new challenges for society in AT and CZ alike. In order to be able to counter these and to act responsibly, a targeted joint examination of the consequences of climate change and adaptation to it is required. The similar natural starting situation and spatial proximity in the program region offers the potential to learn from one another, to strengthen one another and, with the help of PP Nadace Partnerství, KB OÖ, EAV, ECČB, RERA, a cross-border, networking, new offer as long-term support for communities and to develop and implement further institutions in the field of climate change adaptation. The aim of the project and the implementation of the activities is to increase the capabilities of the municipalities and other actors to react to climate change in a qualified manner and to adapt in good time to the dangers associated with this change. The development and implementation of a cross-border offer leads to the consideration of best accessible practice in the preparation of investments to save energy and water during the operation of the public investments and to mitigate the effects of climate change on the population in the program area. The basis for the work is a comprehensive cross-border research of the legal situation or best practice examples. Together with community representatives, a course is being developed that is intended to contribute to the implementation of adaptation measures in the region. In order to increase the implemented adaptation measures, the PPs will offer advice to at least 21 municipalities. The support includes the preparatory work for the investment projects as well as the implementation (adaptation of the new buildings and reconstructions, water and energy management, etc.). The traveling exhibition or the work with schools raise awareness in communities and educational institutions. As part of the project, an open cross-border network ADAPTRegion will be established, which will involve partners in the project on a long-term basis, but will also acquire other municipalities, educational institutions, regions and organizations for cross-border exchange, knowledge transfer and cooperation in the field of climate change adaptation according to the action plan. Public relations work is also an integral part of the project in order to arouse interest in the topic and implement the adaptation measures in the region. She is actively involved in the project, e.g. by voting in the "Cross-border Adapterra Awards". The findings and results of the project will be presented during the events and made available on the web portals. (English)
