The project deals with the issues of Estonian women who have moved to Finland and is therefore in general aimed to strengthen the communities of women who have left their homeland and are living and working in another country in Baltic Sea area. Compared to local residents the migrants are socially and economically more vulnerable and face more challeges which they are often not able or prepared to foresee. So far the issue has not been much dealt with and there is lacking systematic approach to the topic. This project is approaching the topic via different type of activities, indicating first the main questions and problems the migrant women have and making steps in helping to solve those problems via community activities. Target groups (Estonian women already living and working in Finland and also women in Estonia who are yet planning to move) are involved in most of the project activities. The activities with the target group will be organised by selecting 3 groups on women (in Turku, Helsinki and Tallinn) as peer groups involved in project activities. Project uses Peer Counselling technique which enables to give both knowledge and emotional, practical and social support to participants. Turku and Helsinki regions are selected due to the density of Estonian population and operational partner organisations working with Estonians. The common discussions of issues and problems in the peer group sessions Finland and Estonia will strengthen the sense of community and relations among the women and help them to communicate and share their life with each other also in the future. Project activities include data collection, compiling 3 peer groups of Estonian female migrants Turku, Helsinki and Tallinn, organisation of peer group events thoroughout the whole project period, establishment of walk-in info points in Turku and Helsinki, communication activities, including facebook community and project web page.
