The aim of the project was Balmazújváros in March 1989. In connection with this event, the municipality pays tribute to organisations, companies or individuals who have contributed to the cultural, economic and social development of the city every year on the city’s day in August. The primary objective of the project is to support small local communities, be they work, friendly or family associations, and develop social relations. On the other hand, we have set the goal that the population, businesses and civil society organisations of the Local Community of Balmazújváros can present their values and live their traditions, whether in the form of gastronomy, music, dance and other self-expression. We would like to reach out to groups and age groups with different interests, so that all segments can find the elements they like, meet people who like folk culture, families with children and people who love rock music on the City Day. As a recurring program, try out different forms of games (e.g. climbing walls, giant table footballs, board games, folk playgrounds) as well as trade fairs for handicrafts and new town goods, as well as stands for the introduction of NGOs and associations. Supporting the necessity of the project, antecedents Such a disadvantaged settlement as Balmazújváros has very little tax revenue. Unfortunately, public funding is not sufficient to cover the many basic tasks (social, administrative, health, etc.). The cultural and public cultural areas of small settlements have not been adequately supported by government for many years, and their programmes can be implemented almost exclusively from tender or other sources of support. Despite this, the management of Balmazújváros can now speak of public education with a history of 50 years, since it has built the Péter Veres Cultural Center as an overpowered commitment. In addition, a very serious infrastructural step forward is that today we can welcome the local and regional population and visitors to our programs in a renovated theatre, insulated culture house, in the renovated Semsey Castle or in the new Youth and Community House. As well as the results of the survey carried out in the past (74.28 % of respondents say that the organisation of events is of paramount importance), the results of the survey show that public education and culture tend to shift towards community culture and recreation. In this way, tourism, art history, museum activity, and territorial development, rural development, and civil organizational coordination can be found on the spot. All events, programs and events that can bring together the above and offer inclusion for adults and children at the same time can count on a lasting success. This includes City Day in Balmazújváros. “Tradition is what lives from the past, is connected to the present and is constantly expanding through the transformation of the present into a past.” — Mihály Szajbély — In previous years, the event took place as the closing chord of the Castle Garden Events, on the Saturday immediately preceding the 20th of August. This is one of the outstanding programs that has become known, known and expected for all residents, companies and civil society organisations in Balmazújváros over the decades. In addition, our local government can feel how attracting and retaining the population of small towns providing a vibrant and diverse cultural life", it does its best to entertain, teach, support civic communities and provide meaningful recreation for those living here and the inhabitants of the nearby and remote settlements that come to us. Preparation of the project We contacted the mayors and cultural houses of the Balmazújváros region, who will facilitate the organisation with a database (list of craftsmen, traditional groups). In addition, the leaders and colleagues of the Péter Veres Cultural Center joined our idea with a brainstorm, i.e. they named the performers and musical ensembles that they would like to see on stage in case of a winning competition. Our municipality has set the dates of the programs, so both civil society organisations and our Brother cities can plan their programmes for the following year in such a way that they do not conflict with this date and can meet the invitation of our city. In previous years, the event was held as the closing chord of the Castle Garden Events, on the Saturday just before 20 August. However, this year we plan the City Day on 16 or 22 August, in line with the coronavirus-related provisions. Documents relevant for the preparation of the project: (finished/on-going/developed in the framework of the project) — needs assessment, market research: not relevant — integrated urban development strategy: not relevant — preliminary action area plan: not relevant — action area (English)

Ebbe a körbe tartozik bele Balmazújvároson a Város Napja is. A projekt előkészítettsége Felvettük a kapcsolatot a Balmazújvárosi Kistérség polgármestereivel, művelődési házaival, akik adatbázissal fogják elősegíteni a szervezést (kézművesek, hagyományőrző csoportok listája). Emellett a Veres Péter Kulturális Központ vezetői és munkatársai ötletbörzével csatlakoztak elképzelésünkhöz, azaz nevesítették azokat az előadóművészeket, zenei együtteseket, melyeket szívesen látnának színpadon, egy nyertes pályázat esetén. Önkormányzatunk megjelölte a programok időpontját, így mind a civil szervezetek, mind a testvérvárosaink úgy tervezhetik a következő évi programjaikat, hogy ezzel a dátummal ne ütközzenek, és városunk meghívásának eleget tudjanak tenni. A korábbi években a Kastélykerti Esték rendezvénysorozat záró akkordjaként, az augusztus 20-át közvetlenül megelőző szombaton került sor az eseményre. Viszont az idei évben a koronavírussal összefüggő rendelkezésekhez igazodva augusztus 16. vagy 22. napjára tervezzük a Város Napját. A projekt előkészítése szempontjából releváns dokumentumok: (elkészült/folyamatban van/a projekt keretében kerül kidolgozásra) - igényfelmérés, piackutatás: nem releváns - integrált városfejlesztési stratégia: nem releváns - előzetes akcióterületi terv: nem releváns - akcióterül (Hungarian)
