A szakács tanuló elsajátítja a konyhai berendezések üzemeltetését, feladata a korszerű vendéglátás követelményeinek megfelelő feladatok ellátása, a vendégek elvárásainak megfelelő ételválaszték kialakítása, elkészítése, a különleges ételkészítési technikák alkalmazása, a munka összehangolása. A pincér gyakornok megtanulja az üzemeltetéssel kapcsolatos teendőket, figyelemmel kíséri az árukészletet, részt vesz az áru szakszerű minőségi és mennyiségi átvételében, előírásoknak megfelelő tárolásában, a munkaterületét nyitásra előkészíti, az eszközöket előkészíti, az ételeket és italokat szakszerűen felszolgálja.
