Radviliškis district stands out in the context of Lithuania with a higher incidence of circulatory and oncological diseases, and, as in the whole country, compared to the EU average, shorter average and healthy life expectancy is observed. One of the measures contributing to improving the health of the population and increasing life expectancy is the strengthening of public health. In order to strengthen the health of the local population, the project “Promotion of healthy lifestyles in Radviliskis district” was initiated, which aims to increase the level of health literacy of the target groups of Radviliškis district and to form positive changes in their health behaviour. Activities carried out in the project: 1. Educational program “One heart — one life” for the prevention of diseases of the circulatory system; 2. Physical activity promotion program for the prevention of circulatory system, oncological, other diseases; 3. A program for the formation of healthy eating skills for the prevention of circulatory system, oncological and other diseases; 4. Programme to improve children’s health literacy by promoting children’s healthy lifestyle attitudes; 5. A programme to improve the health literacy of older people, improve their knowledge of health, improve healthy lifestyles, and develop health-friendly skills to improve older people’s knowledge of health, healthy lifestyles and change their health behaviour. 6. Educational programme oncological diseases, aimed at the prevention of oncological diseases. The project will increase the level of health literacy of the target groups of Radviliškis district and will create positive changes in their health behaviour. This will lead to the reduction of morbidity in the circulatory system, oncological diseases, the self- and active status of persons with disabilities, older people — to remain healthy, self-sufficient and working longer, and children — to grow healthier, contributing to their social exclusion and reducing its risk of ill health.
