The main problem for which the project is initiated is the inefficient and substandard street lighting infrastructure of Panevėžys city. The aim of the project is to ensure high-quality, efficient and compliant lighting of municipal streets and reduce energy consumption in the street lighting infrastructure. Panevėžio miesto gatvių apšvietimo sistema apima 291 miesto gatvę, kurioje įrengta 8147 vnt. atramų ir 8491 vnt. šviestuvų. Pagrindinė problema, kuriai spręsti inicijuojamas projektas - neefektyvi ir šiuolaikinių standartų neatitinkanti Panevėžio miesto gatvių apšvietimo infrastruktūra. Projekto tikslas – užtikrinti kokybišką, efektyvų ir reikalavimus atitinkantį Savivaldybės gatvių apšvietimą bei sumažinti energijos suvartojimą gatvių apšvietimo infrastruktūroje. Įgyvendinamu projektu siekiama: * modernizuoti gatvių apšvietimo sistemą, kuri atitiks su gatvių apšvietimu susijusių standartų nustatytus reikalavimus. * sutaupyti elektros energijos kiekį – ne mažiau kaip 46 proc. * sumažinti išmetamų šiltnamio efektą sukeliančių dujų kiekį. * sumažinti eksploatavimo sąnaudas.
