The aim of the project is to develop sustainable mobility systems in Panevėžys, based on the established sustainable urban mobility plan. The poor and deteriorating traffic lights, reducing transport capacity at urban junctions, also reducing the attractiveness of public transport and increasing environmental pollution. It is not possible to densify the transport infrastructure of Panevėžys city, therefore during the implementation of the project it is planned to install the intelligent transport system by modernising Basanavičiaus str. — Vilniaus g.; J. Basanavičius — Ukmergės str.; J. Biliūnas str. — Velžio road — Vilniaus g. — Pajuostė pl.; J. Basanavičiaus str. — Savanorius a.; Vilnius g. — Ramygalos str.; J. Basanavičiaus str. — Electrical traffic light stations and connect them to the common coordinated control system. The upgraded transport infrastructure will be adapted to people with special needs: at pedestrian crossings, traffic lights at traffic lights, sensors for pedestrian signal call buttons, traffic sensors (video detectors and induction loops), directional LED lighting for pedestrian crossings, audible signals for the blind, remote monitoring, control and connection of traffic lights and related devices to the traffic control centre. Projekto tikslas – vadovaujantis parengtu darnaus judumo mieste planu, kurti subalansuotas, efektyvių išteklių ir šiuolaikinių technologijų naudojimu grindžiamas darnaus judumo sistemas Panevėžio mieste. Dėl prastos ir blogėjančios šviesoforų būklės, mažėja transporto pralaidumas miesto sankryžose, lygiai taip pat mažėja viešojo transporto patrauklumas, didinama aplinkos tarša. Tankinti Panevėžio miesto transporto infrastruktūrą nėra galimybės, todėl projekto įgyvendinimo metu planuojama įdiegti intelektinę transporto sistemą modernizuojant Basanavičiaus g. – Vilniaus g.; J. Basanavičiaus – Ukmergės g.; J. Biliūno g. – Velžio kelias – Vilniaus g. – Pajuostės pl.; J. Basanavičiaus g. – Savanorių a.; Vilniaus g. – Ramygalos g.; J. Basanavičiaus g. – Elektros g. esančius šviesoforų postus ir prijungti juos į bendrą koordinuoto valdymo sistemą. Atnaujinama transporto infrastruktūra bus pritaikyta specialiųjų poreikių turintiems žmonėms: ties pėsčiųjų perėjomis, šviesoforų postuose, įdiegiant sensorinius pėsčiųjų signalo iškvietimo mygtukus, eismo jutiklius (vaizdo detektorius ir indukcinę kilpą), kryptinį pėsčiųjų perėjų LED apšvietimą, garsinius signalus akliesiems, nuotolinį šviesoforų ir su jais susijusių įrenginių stebėjimą, valdymą ir jo pajungimą į eismo valdymo centrą.
