Lietuvoje onkologinės ligos užima antrą vietą bendroje mirtingumo struktūroje ir didžiausias mirtingumas yra darbingo (45–64 m.) amžiaus žmonių grupėje. Be to, pastebėta, kad trijų onkologinių ligų – gimdos kaklelio, krūties ir storosios žarnos vėžio profilaktinės patikros programos vykdomos vis dar neefektyviai, todėl būtina suaktyvinti informacinę sklaidą tikslinėms gyventojų grupėms, apie vykdomas minėtų onkologinių ligų prevencines programas ir jų naudą. Tuo tikslu bus įgyvendinamas projektas, kurio metu numatomos šios veiklos kryptys:_x000D_1. Vadovaujantis Europos mokslininkų gairėmis, parengti Lietuvos poreikius atitinkančias storosios žarnos bei krūties vėžio atrankinės patikros programų metodiką (gaires) (toliau - Atrankinės patikros metodika);_x000D_2. Vadovaujantis Atrankinės patikros metodika, apmokyti pirminio ir antrinio lygio asmens sveikatos priežiūros paslaugas Rytų regione teikiančius specialistus;_x000D_3. Siekiant didinti prevenciją prieš storosios žarnos, krūties vėžio bei gimdos kaklelio vėžinius susirgimus, įkurti koordinavimo centrą Rytų regione, kuris įgyvendins Atrankinės patikros metodikos reikalavimus;_x000D_4. Organizuoti bei vykdyti informacijos sklaidą gyventojams apie šalyje vykdomas prevencines onkologinių ligų programas ir jų naudą._x000D_Projekto metu sukurti rezultatai sudarys tinkamas prielaidas padidinti onkologinių ligų ankstyvosios diagnostikos programų vykdymą Rytų regione esančiose tikslinėse teritorijose ir kitose savivaldybėse, padėtų siekti sveiko senėjimo, bei didintų gyventojų atsakomybę už savo sveikatą.
